This innovative approach to the Maths curriculum has been developed by Jo, as a result of her work with Massey University and the ALiM programme. It is a perfect fit in the MLE, giving ownership of their learning back to the students.
This workshop introduces the philosophy behind Maths Cafe, and gives a brief outline of the journey towards it – allowing participants to identify their own position on the teaching and learning of maths. It also
- explores structures for identifying students’ learning needs, and mapping curriculum coverage
- offers an opportunity to look at resources that are useful in the classroom
- investigates ways to apply the Maths Cafe idea to a range of age groups.
