The heart of every good inquiry is using primary sources for information. Those could be people or places that carry insights and information for the students to use in their inquiry. There are a number of ways to bring people into your classroom, from the traditional guest-speaker to the digital skype interview or LEARNZ virtual field trip.
Too often, teachers overlook the incredible resource that the majority of them have on their doorstep – their community.
This workshop is a practical session, beginning with a visit to the Information Centre and culminating with a brainstorming session about community resources (natural environments, man-made environments, and the people who inhabit our communities) that can be invaluable primary sources for inquiry.
